EMIC 586

Special Projects in Electron Microscopy
2 or 3 credits, offered Fall & Spring semesters.

Individual projects using electron microscopy including transmission electron microscopy and/or scanning electron microscopy. Students are provided hands-on instruction in specimen preparation procedure including various fixation techniques for TEM & SEM, ultramicrotomy, and staining. Students who take 586 must also register for EMIC 587. May be repeated for credit.

1 credit, Fall & Spring semesters.

Initially, the instructor provides fundamental theory and practical aspects of EM instrumentation and preparation techniques. Students present the results of their projects in 586
